Clive Staples Lewis, or C.S. Lewis, was born in Ireland on November 29, 1898. He was a writer and lay theologian who held academic positions in English literature at Oxford University and Cambridge University, both. He has written many bestsellers, including The Chronicles of Narnia , The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity, The Problem of Pain, etc. C.S. Lewis served on the English faculty at Oxford University along with J. R. R. Tolkien . They were also active members of the informal Oxford literary group named Inklings .
