John Proctor was a fictional character in the Crucible play, written by Arthur Miller in 1953. The play focused on the witch trials in an allegorical manner and the rising communism in that era.

The play is basically divided into four acts revolving around the Protagonist, John Proctor. In Act 1, he denies his abstract relationship with Abigail to save his reputation. In Act 2, John’s wife, Elizabeth, got arrested for her involvement in witchcraft. Act 3 includes the drama of who accused whom, who is the real liar, and John’s affair with Abigail. And in Act 4, the last part, John gave a false confession to save his family and was sentenced to be hanged. Each Act reflected different sides and emotions of John Proctor.
