Jeffery Preston Bezos, commonly known as Jeff Bezos, is the founder, president, and CEO of Amazon, the world’s leading and most progressive ecommerce company. Bezos always had high aspirations for himself and the world from a very early age. He graduated from Preston University in 1986 with a degree in electrical engineering and computer science, and then moved onto a career on Wall Street. In 1994, he founded Amazon and Blue Origin in 2000, an aerospace manufacturing and sub-orbital space flight company. While his biography is impressive, it is also mostly common knowledge. However, here are some interesting facts about Jeff Bezos you may not know. 

1. Jeff Bezos was considered a genius since childhood 

It may come as no surprise that Bezos was a bright child but early demonstrations of his innovation and intelligence are truly impressive. When he was only three years old, he disassembled his own crib with a screwdriver! The toddler is claimed to have done so because he wanted to sleep in a “real” bed. (Geek Wire) 

2. His father had no idea of his son’s success

Jeff’s bio- father was an absent figure in his life from the tender age of only three years old. The mega successful entrepreneur is richer than the British royal family, which has a reported collective net worth of $88 billion according to Forbes. One of the most heartwarming facts about Jeff Bezos is that he was lovingly adopted by his stepfather. Jeff was born January 12, 1964 to a teenage mother. His biological father left the family when Jeff was only three years old. His mother later remarried Mike Bezos, an immigrant from Cuba, who adopted Jeff. Mike arrived in the U.S. in 1962, wearing a hand-stitched jacket from his mother, and couldn’t speak English. Reflecting about his father, Bezos tweeted in 2019:

Jeff Bezos makes $2,489 per second. The average United States worker making a median wage will earn roughly $875 per week. Meaning Jeff is raking in more than double a weeks’ worth of wages for the average American in just one second! (Business Insider) 

8. Amazon was initially an online bookstore

Amazon, named after the longest river on earth, came from humble beginnings. When Bezos founded the company in 1995, it was simply an online bookstore. 9. Reads and replies to customer emails

One of the more humbling facts about Jeff Bezos is that even though he is the Founder and CEO of one of the world’s largest, wealthiest companies, he still takes the time to read customer emails. The Amazon CEO takes emails directly from customers. If there is a problem that is particularly pressing, Bezos forwards the email to the appropriate amazon department, with a question mark as its title, meaning the issue must be resolved immediately!

“I still have an email address customers can write to. I see most of those emails. I see them and I forward them to the executives in charge of the area with a question mark. One of the most entertaining facts about Jeff Bezos is his journey to naming his company. Initially, Jeff had chosen the name “Cadabra” but after advice from his lawyer stating it sounded very similar to “Cadaver”, he reconsidered the decision. It is impossible to speak about Bezos’ success without a reference to his beginnings. Jeff takes home an annual salary of just under $82,000. 19. Supports same sex marriage in Washington state

One of the most interesting facts about Jeff Bezos is the strong public stance he took on the social issue of same sex marriage in Washington State. In 2012, an employee confronted the Bezos asking for a $100,000 donation towards the same sex marriage cause in Washington State.   1. I don’t know if this is all true, but I know he’s a communist asshole who has no appreciation for the freedom he had to get where he is. And I’m going to get rid of Amazon if I can possibly do it.
