Fred Hampton was born in Chicago in 1948. He was an American activist and a leader who fought for the rights of black people. His full name is Fredrick Allen Hampton Sr. The Fred Hampton quotes below show the many ways in which he inspired his community.
At the age of just 10, he used to host weekend breakfasts for the neighbourhood’s children. Not just hosting but he also used to prepare the meal himself for the children. During high school, he raised his voice against injustice and even demanded to hire black teachers and administrators in the school.
Later, he became the youngest American civil rights leader and a deputy chairman of the Black Panther Party’s Illinois chapter. As an African American, he founded the “Rainbow Coalition” an alliance between the panthers, the lords, the white, and young patriots.
