Dalai Lama is a title given by the Tibetan people to the highest spiritual leader. The 14th and current Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso original name Lhamo Dhondup with spiritual name Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso. Tenzin Gyatso was born on July 6, 1935 in Takster, China. The Dalai Lama and thousands of his people fled to Dharamshala when the peopleโ€™s republic of China invaded them. Since then, he took actions together with his numerous conferences and lectures as part of his humanitarian work. Through his work, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. After his gallstone surgery, Dalai Lama announced his semi-retirement.
