Born on March 31, 1927, in Arizona, Cesar Chavez fought for the rights of the farmers. He was an apricot picker and a lumber handler in California. At that time, he established Community Service Organization along with his two friends, who were also social justice activists.

He was greatly inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.’s ideals and principles. Following the path of non-violence, he co-founded the United Farm Workers union. He devoted all his life to improving the living and working conditions of the farmers. For his commendable work, he received a civilian award from President Clinton.
