Dolores Huerta is an American labour leader and civil rights activist. Huerta was born in the mining town and ghost city of Dawson, New Mexico, on April 10, 1930. Juan Fernández, her father, worked as a coal miner before becoming a migrant worker.

Alicia Chávez, her mother, was an entrepreneur. Alicia manages a motel with 70 rooms. She kept her hotel rooms reasonably priced and occasionally provided free accommodations to low-wage workers and farm labourers. Her mother instilled in Huerta the will to fight for farmworker rights.

Huerta’s parents split when she was three years old. She moved live with her father after that. Her mother, however, was responsible for all of her characteristics.

Huerta has worked alongside Cesar Chavez, a co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association, on behalf of farmworkers.

Dolores Huerta has a worldwide following, not just among Latinos and Spanish speakers. Her biography has motivated many who have read it.
