Dr. Seuss alias Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on Howard Street in Springfield, Massachusetts, on March 2, 1904. His achievements as a poet, cartoonist, and writer are well-known. During WWII, Geisel became more interested in political cartoons. He created around 400 cartoons for a daily newspaper in New York. To expand his contributions to the war effort, Geisel joined the US army as the commander of the Animation Department.
Dr. Seuss died on 24 September 1991 in San Diego, California, of throat cancer. Among his honours were two Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, and the Pulitzer Prize.
