A collection of quotes from one of history’s most well known polymath – Leonardo da Vinci

“Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence.”

Leonardo da Vinci

Turtle’s thoughts:

Be careful not to stand silent to any injustice you see to yourself or others. As proven many times in history, when an aggressor suffers no consequence they often take this as an acceptance of their actions. It takes courage to stand up to wrong doings, especially when it does not impact you, your friends or your family but if we want to make the world a better place, we must put ourselves in these selfless confrontations.

“The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding.”

Leonardo da Vinci

Turtle’s thoughts:

The wisdom gained from the understanding of a topic once unknown to ones self is often rewarding. Knowledge is a special kind of pleasure that one can arguably not gain elsewhere and it is often the case that the gathering of knowledge in one field leads to sparked interest in others previously unknown.

“As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well spent brings happy death”

Leonardo da Vinci

Turtle’s thoughts:

Spend your days well and you spend your life well. Spend your life well and die a happy person. The message here is to focus on happiness each and every day, lead a fulfilling life and leave the earth a fulfilled person.

  1. These quotes certainly are thought provoking. The first is right on time in spite of being written so long ago. The second one, I understand. The third, about a good death, is something I haven’t thought of much, but it is encouraging.

      1. My pleasure. Life is too short. We are accustomed to letting people know when we don’t like something, how much nicer to be told when we do something well? 😉
